Weather

Bitterly cold, with high winds and driving powder at higher levels.

Conditions

Only the California side open, conditions good at top of mountain (lower level runs bare). Mix of man made base, and some natural on top. Mostly beginner and intermediate trails open. 8 lifts (out of 10) and the aerial tram in operation.

Overall

First visit to Heavenly and I finished injured! (I slipped on ice in the car park at the end of the day, fell on one of my skies and ended up with a nasty cut on my chest)

It was seriously cold. Regular trips to the restaurant to get warm were needed and I had real problems with icing up on my glasses.

Easy Runs

Patsy's - machine groomed, road between lift from base and lifts to upper mountain.
Maggie's - machine groomed - blowing powder some icy patches at end of day.
Mombo - route to base from Upper Mombo. Groomed but rough.

Intermediate Runs

Skyline trail - narrow road from peak to main runs
Canyon - broad groomed run with steeper and narrower sections around trees
Betty's - easy groomed run, with some steeper sections
Ridge Run - easiest trail from the top. High winds.
Liz's - short steep sections leading to lift
Upper Mombo - groomed but ridged with lumps of ice. Restricted to "advanced skiers" only.
Powder bowl - steep short cut, very short

Advanced Runs

Betty's bowl - mogulled with soft powder
